What is 3D modelling?

3D modelling allows users in many industries to produce 3D digital representation of any object or surface. It is usually the one of the first steps taken to make sketches and ideas into visible models that could be studied and altered.

Who uses 3D modelling?

3D models are used in various industries including manufacturing, automotive, assembly lines, and engineering design.

Engineers and architects use it in planning and designing conceptual and shop floor designs. It is the first step to carry an idea from just a sketch to a model that could be analyzed and optimized to further continue in the projects implementation.

A user would usually begin by generating some type of simple geometric shapes such as spheres or cubes. This is just a starting point of something complex for 3D modelling its almost always a good idea to start simple and head towards complexity.
